Description

As a Risk & Compliance Associate, you will support clients in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to Financial Crime (FinCrime), Governance, Regulatory Compliance, and Conduct Risk. You will work across multiple industries (banking, insurance, wealth & asset management) to ensure compliance with pan-African regulations while developing expertise in risk remediation strategies

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Assessment
  • Evaluate policies and procedures to identify gaps in compliance with: Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
  • Banks Act
  • Financial Markets Act
  • Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA)
  • Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act (PRECCA)
  • Develop remediation plans to address compliance deficiencies
  • Conduct risk assessments for clients in banking, insurance, and asset management sectors

  • Client Engagement & Reporting
  • Prepare reports detailing findings, risks, and actionable recommendations
  • Assist in client workshops to communicate compliance requirements and best practices
  • Liaise with stakeholders (internal teams, clients, regulators) to align on risk mitigation strategies

  • Research & Continuous Learning Monitor regulatory updates across pan-African jurisdictions

Qualifications

  • A BCom, BCom Law, or LLB degree
  • A keen interest in pursuing professional qualifications such as CAMS, CPrac, or CFE
  • A desire to gain exposure to regulatory requirements across pan-African jurisdictions
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Basic knowledge of key regulations, including the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Banks Act, Financial Markets Act, Prevention of Organised Crime Act, and the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • The ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively to meet deadlines
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work well in a team
